Khichdi Distribution

Khichdi distribution is a practice of serving free khichdi to people in need. Khichdi is a simple meal of rice, dal, and mild spices. It is easy to cook in large quantities. It is nutritious and affordable. NGOs, temple prasadam services and community groups serve khichdi to people in different parts of India. ISKCON Kurukshetra welcomes everyone who wishes to support this seva.

Why Khichdi Prasadam ?

Khichdi is distributed because it is nutritious, filling, cheap and easy to digest. One pot can feed hundreds of people. It needs few ingredients. It stays warm for hours in insulated containers. It suits children, elders, and the sick. Prabhupada called ISKCON “the kitchen religion”, and feeding people is central to its mission. ISKCON Food for Life programme works on the idea that no one within reach of a temple should go hungry.
